Ways of Working

Ways of Working emerged in 2020 and was established by artist Owen Griffiths – amidst a global pandemic, within a time of existing and growing inequality; increased austerity and climate chaos. It was created to respond to the urgency of our times and as a way of exploring the ideas of digging where you stand, long term relationships and radical local change as part of imagining and creating new ways of using culture as a method of finding common ground and empowerment.

Ways of Working was set up in dialogue with friends, comrades and communities and will bring the agendas of social, environmental, racial and community justice into projects which involve everyday infrastructure, from rethinking economics to urban design, to curatorial practices. These processes might start by thinking about how our streets look and work, to exploring our relationships to land use, to how galleries and museums work with communities. It is an enquiry and relational based way of working.

Owen Griffiths is an artist, curator and workshop leader. He is a researcher developing projects such as Decentralising Political Economies working closely with Arte Util network as well as teaching and exhibiting.
